Girls House Football

Last week was another sporty week at Broxbourne and it was excellent to see 26 of our Year 5 and 6 girls represent their houses as the final round of matches took place this Wednesday. Final point totals were: Yellow Foxes with 3 points, third were Green Hedgehogs with 5 points, second were Red Squirrels with 7 points and the winners on this occasion with 9 points were Blue Badgers. Well done to you all for showing up and enjoying the camaraderie of playing sport against each other and congratulations to Blue Badgers on this occasion.

Cross Country Competition at The Broxbourne School

Friday saw our Y3/4 and Y5/6 cross-country teams take to the mud at the District Cross-Country. Competition was tough and the school placed overall 4th from the 10 schools involved. Our Y5/6 boys team placed 2nd and individually we had some stand out performances from Cooper, who was 2nd in the Y5/6 race, Lewie. Who was 8th in the Y3/4 race and the first Y3 boy in the district and Alice, who was also 8th in the Y3/4 race and 2nd Y3 in the district. It was great to be able to share the event with spectators and thank you to all supporters, who cheered our intrepid runners home. Congratulations and chapeau Broxbourne to all who represented the school so well.

Year 5 & 6 Inter Primary Cup

Today our Year 5 and 6 football and netball teams opened this season’s fixture campaign. The attitude, camaraderie and sportsmanship seen throughout was really encouraging to see. How the game is played and how you conduct yourself is far more important than any result and our children were  superb ambassadors for our school today. Our A Team netballers were runners up, narrowly being pipped 5-3 in the final. Not to be  outdone, our A Team footballers finished 6th and our B Team also finished as runners-up, losing out to a deciding golden goal. Very well done to all who were selected to represent the school so well. Thank you also to Miss Hawthorne, Miss Pope, Mr Wilson, Mr Hancock and Mrs Davidson for providing our children with this opportunity. A great start to the sporting calendar and chapeau Broxbourne!!!

SPORTS NEWS 2023/2024

Girls' Inclusive Football Tournament - July 2024

Our Year 3 girls had a superb time at the Hertfordshire Youth Games. Having enjoyed an opening ceremony and skills sessions, they commenced fun matches in the afternoon to put their new found skills into action. They also enjoyed meeting GB sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, who is also in recent times gladiator Nitro!!! The ice cream also went down well!!! Thank you to Mrs Alcock for helping us transport the girls this morning, to enable us to enjoy the event. The energy and camaraderie from Team Broxbourne has been amazing and they certainly know the chorus of the School Anthem…

District Sports - July 2024

Our District Sports team performed admirably at Tuesday’s event, placing fourth from the ten schools involved. We were the highest placed single-form entry school and only three points behind third… We may be small, but we gave strong account and made a large number of finals. Congratulations to all selected to represent the school at this event and all who trained across this half term. We have two District Champions: Skye and Georgia H in standing long jump and the hurdles respectively. Well done to you both!!

Cricket Tournament - June 2024

I am thrilled to report that the Year 4 and Year 6 cricket teams had an absolutely brilliant day last Friday.  Notably, Year 4 won all their games, while Year 6 secured victory in 3 out of 4 matches.  Their behaviour and sportsmanship was outstanding.

I would like to thank Mrs. Davidson and Mr. Wilson for their invaluable support in guiding and encouraging the teams on the day. Furthermore, I extend my thanks to Broxbourne Cricket Club for hosting such a fantastic event.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and families for their tremendous support on the day. Your encouragement and presence made a significant difference.

Year 3 & Year 4 Inter Primary Cup - May 2024

Our Year 3 and 4 football and netball teams gave good account of themselves in somewhat soggy conditions at the district tournament. Well done to all who represented the school on this occasion and particularly to our Year 3 netballers who won their group. Thank you to Mr Murton, Mrs Alcock, Mrs Davidson and Miss Hawthorne for running the teams and for providing this opportunity for our children.

B Team Football Tournament - April 2024

I am delighted to inform you that our B Team football players performed remarkably well on Wednesday at Cranbourne School. They secured the 3rd position and even brought home a trophy!

A & B Team Netball Tournament - March 2024

Well done to our A and B netballers for playing with enthusiasm on Thursday in their respective District Tournament. Thank you to Mrs Davidson, Miss Hawthorne, Penny and Ellis for supporting and coaching the team across the morning.

A Team Football Tournament - March 2024

Our A Team footballers played with heart, although it was not to be our tournament on this occasion. Having not progressed beyond the group stage, competition was tough. The team howeverr conducted themselves well and thank you to Mr Wilson for supporting the team across the afternoon.

Sportshall Athletics Competitions - March 2024

Congratulations to our Year 5/6 indoor athletics team on their brilliant performance on Wednesday, 6th March showing great team spirit and encouragement of each other throughout. There were some excellent performances across the afternoon and well done to all who represented the school so well.

Our Year 3 and 4 indoor athletics team were superb last Friday, 8th March and showed great determination, speed and seriously slick baton changing! The team supported each other with enthusiasm and showed real promise. Of the six schools attending, after all track and field events were totalled, by some way our team won the boys event, the girls event and the overall event. The look of surprise and joy when our team realised this was very special and what a brilliant  achievement. Well done to all who represented us so well and contributed to this outcome. Fantastic Broxbourne!

House Football Competitions

It was wonderful to see so many of our Year 3 and 4 girls representing their houses and having fun at this week’s House Football. The girls matches have now concluded and with 3 points for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for playing, the final points scores were: Blue Badgers 3, Yellow Foxes 5, and tied on 8 points were Red Squirrels and Green Hedgehogs. The overall winners were Red Squirrels, having scored 8 goals, compared to Green Hedgehogs with 6. Thank you to our Year 6 House Captains and Mr North for running this and well done to all who played. Weather permitting, the final Year 3 and 4 boys matches will be played at 12.30pm next Tuesday. The Y5 and 6 equivalent for boys and girls will take place across the two weeks after half term.

Away Football Match - October 2023

Congratulations to both of our Year 5 and 6 football teams, who represented the school, in our first fixture of the year with Wormley. Our A Team won 4-0 and our B Team 11-0! Mr North reports some promising play and pleasing sportsmanship.  Well done to all involved and thank you to Mr North and Mr Wilson for providing our children with this opportunity.

Fantastic stuff and great team spirit Broxbourne CE Primary School!

Inter Primary Cup - November 2022

Well done to all football and netballers who represented our school on Friday at the District Football and Netball Tournament.  All four teams played well and showed great sportsmanship and  encouragement throughout.  Our netball teams can be proud of their performance.  There was some excellent play and despite not losing a game, they lost out to Roselands who had a better goal average.

Congratulations to Lola for her outstanding play which earned her Player of the Tournament. Well done Lola!  The team all played well and enjoyed the competition immensely and are looking forward to more matches.  Our footballers also played well with our B Team playing with great spirit and finishing joint fifth. Our football A Team advanced to the final on goal difference, winning two matches and drawing one. The final finished 1-1, meaning penalties… All three penalty takers held their nerve meaning we are District Football Champions for 2022!  Thank you to Mrs Alcock, Ms Davidson and Mr Markham for helping run the teams. Well done Team Broxbourne.
