Road and Water Safety

Broxbourne CE Primary School is fortunate being sited in such a peaceful rural setting. However, the position of the school necessitates parents WALKING up to school along the pathway from either Churchfields or Winford Drive when bringing or collecting children.

If parents are unable to walk up to school or if one of their children is unwell, they are requested to telephone for special permission to drive and park in the visitors’ car park.

Parents are requested to walk with their children inside the fenced pathway from the Churchfields direction. It is very difficult for drivers if children and parents are walking in the roadway; it is also dangerous. We want to ensure the safety of our children at all times.

Children are reminded regularly about water safety. No child must go near the New River or climb on the fence. Fortunately, no child has ever had an accident by the river, but this is only as a result of careful education and constant vigilance by all of us – parents and school – working together.

Children whose parents permit them to cycle may cycle on the roadway from Churchfields. Children who cycle from Winford Drive should walk their bikes along the towpath. Cycling is not permitted in the school grounds.
