Kingfisher Council
Our Kingfisher Council are our school equivalent of a pupil council. Across your child’s time with us, it is our belief all children should have the opportunity to lead and be part of this. Our Kingfisher Council change every term, meeting and working on a regular basis to make our school the best it can be for its children. In addition to looking at ways of making our school better, each year the school democratically votes for its chosen focus charity and raises significant sums for the selected charity. We operate a three yearly cycle of global, National and local charities, when choosing which we should support. Over the last 5 years our Kingfisher Council have supported: The British Heart Foundation, Guide Dogs, Water Aid, Age UK, The Big Blue Ocean Clean-up, Broxbourne Foodbank, ‘Young Minds’, UNICEF, Great Ormond Street and this year's charity which is HABS Family Support. HABS have recently taken on charity status and provide a great deal of support to children and families in our immediate area. They have supported us over many years and helped improve the lives of many through their work. They are a nationally award winning small organisation who make a significant difference in our area. We are delighted our children selected this very worthy cause.
Each charity has benefitted considerably and each year over £2,000 has been raised.
Our Kingfisher Council were involved in the revision of our School Promise and worked with their classmates and teachers in refining and finalising this.
