Kingfisher Council

Our Kingfisher Council are our school equivalent of a pupil council. Across your child’s time with us, it is our belief all children should have the opportunity to lead and be part of this. Our Kingfisher Council change every term, meeting and working on a regular basis to make our school the best it can be for its children. In addition to looking at ways of making our school better, each year the school democratically votes for its chosen focus charity and raises significant sums for the selected charity. We operate a three yearly cycle of global, National and local charities, when choosing which we should support. Over the last 5 years our Kingfisher Council have supported: The British Heart Foundation, Guide Dogs, Water Aid, Age UK, The Big Blue Ocean Clean-up, Broxbourne Foodbank, ‘Young Minds’ UNICEF and this year's charity which is Great Ormond Street Hospital. Each charity has benefitted considerably and each year over £2,000 has been raised.

Our Kingfisher Council have also participated in the Dragon’s Den Apprentice Challenge with great success over the last three years. This challenge seeks to develop the ability of young people to work as teams to grow £50 seed money through supporting a local dragon and their charity. Our school has won several awards for ‘Best Presentation,’ ‘Best Poster’ and ‘Most Money Raised’ through the hard work and generosity of our children and their school community.

Recently, our Kingfisher Council revised our School Promise. They worked with their classmates and teachers in refining and finalising our School Promise, which came into effect from January 2020 and will remain in place for the next 8 years.
