SPORTS NEWS 2022/2023
Year 3 & Year 4 Inter Primary Cup May 2023
Our Y3/4 footballers and netballers played with good spirit at last Friday’s District Tournament. We did not advance from the group stage on this occasion, although our teams grew in their play across the morning. Well done to all who represented the school.
B Team Tournament March 2023
Our B Team footballers gave good account of themselves finishing in 5th from the nine schools involved. They showed great sportsmanship and team spirit. Well done to all who represented the school on this occasion and thank you to Mr Markham and Mr Wilson for coaching and running the team.
Netball Tournament March 2023
Our netballers should be proud of themselves after the school District Tournament. They finished in third place from the eight schools involved. Congratulations to all who represented the school on this occasion and thank you to Mrs Alcock and Mrs Davidson for coaching and providing the team with this opportunity.
A Team Tournament March 2023
Our A Team footballers did not manage to defend their district title and finished in 6th on this occasion. Congratulations to Cranbourne for winning this time. Well done to all who represented our school and thank you to Mr Markham for running the team.
Sportshall Athletics Tournament March 2023
Our indoor athletics team gave good account of themselves and finished as runners-up. Some excellent individual race performances were seen and our usual Broxbourne supportive spirit was in clear evidence.
Inter Primary Cup - November 2022
Well done to all football and netballers who represented our school on Friday at the District Football and Netball Tournament. All four teams played well and showed great sportsmanship and encouragement throughout. Our netball teams can be proud of their performance. There was some excellent play and despite not losing a game, they lost out to Roselands who had a better goal average.
Congratulations to Lola for her outstanding play which earned her Player of the Tournament. Well done Lola! The team all played well and enjoyed the competition immensely and are looking forward to more matches. Our footballers also played well with our B Team playing with great spirit and finishing joint fifth. Our football A Team advanced to the final on goal difference, winning two matches and drawing one. The final finished 1-1, meaning penalties… All three penalty takers held their nerve meaning we are District Football Champions for 2022! Thank you to Mrs Alcock, Ms Davidson and Mr Markham for helping run the teams. Well done Team Broxbourne.
The Year 5 and 6 girls’ house football concluded on Wednesday with a record turnout. Well done to all 20 of our girls on their camaraderie and enthusiasm. Overall results were: Yellow Foxes and Blue Badgers tied for third with 5 points, Red Squirrels finished as runners up with 6 points and Green Hedgehogs were the winners on this occasion.
SPORTS NEWS 2021/2022
Our Year 3 and 4 football and netballers played very well in last Friday’s District Tournaments. The footballers finished runners up from the nine schools involved and the netballers came third out of the seven teams. In the netball, our team showed some excellent inter-passing, developing movement and shooting, winning our final game 6-0! Georgia was also named as the Most Valuable Player in the tournament by the John Warner teachers. Our footballers played similarly well and were narrowly pipped in the final 1-0 through an early goal, having topped their group beforehand. Well done to all players for representing our school so well. Thank you to Ms Davidson and Mr Wilson for running the teams.
Well done to all netballers and footballers who represented our school at the Inter Primary Cup. Having won the A Team tournament recently, hopes were high in both these events and both teams gave good accounts.
Our netballers finished 4th, winning four games and losing two and our footballers narrowly missed out on advancing from the group stage to the semi-finals by just one point, thereby contesting the 5th and 6th play-off match and finishing in 6th. Once more, both sides showed some excellent inter-play and teamwork. Most importantly of all, all players showed great sportsmanship. Well done to all involved and our thanks to Ms Davidson, Mr Taylor, Mr Markham and Mr Wilson for enabling our children to have this opportunity.

MATCH REPORT FROM OUR KINGFISHER FOOTBALL TEAM—WINNERS OF THE HDSSA DISTRICT A TEAM TOURNAMENT!
Some Year 5 and 6s went to an A Team tournament at Cranbourne school on Tuesday, along with 10 schools. We were in group A and we placed second in our group. At that time, we had conceded one goal and lost only one game.
We then moved on to the semi-finals which was very tense, but we managed to win on penalties after 15 minutes of play. After that, we advanced to the final against Wormley School, which we won with a goal in the early stages and a last minute save by our goalkeeper.
In the end, it was a fun day out and we even claimed a first place trophy on the way!
George—We were incredible and really deserved the win. And above all, it was a load of fun.
Callum—One of the most fun times in my time at primary school. We all tried our very best and we deserved to win it.
Our fantastic Football and Netball Teams—Our Football B Team won their group, our Football A Team were runners up and our Netball Team came 3rd! Amazing results for our first tournament in two years! Well done all.
