Welcome to Year 5 with Mrs Laing, Mrs Wood and Mrs Brislin 

The children have made an excellent start to the new school year and have already shown excellent levels of resilience and dedication to their learning. In English this half term, we are working hard to develop and enrich our vocabulary through poetry and a wide range of descriptive writing activities. The children’s love of reading is clearly apparent, and we have enjoyed sharing our favourite books in class. Regular reading both at home and in school is fundamental to the progress children make each year, so please spend time sharing and discussing books with your child. We want every child to develop a lifelong love of reading!

We are extremely excited for the year ahead as we have lots to look forward to this year, including a Smart Toys Workshop, a class trip to the Astronomy Centre at the Royal Observatory at Greenwich, and of course our residential trip to Burwell House. We hope that it will be a memorable year for all the children in our Year 5 class and we look forward to sharing the journey with them.
