Year 5 & Year 6 Cricket Festival - June 2026

On Friday 5th June, our Year 5 and Year 6 cricketers represented the school superbly at the District Cricket Tournament. The children performed admirably throughout the day. The standard of cricket on display was exceptionally high, with some impressive bowling, determined batting and excellent fielding evident across all matches.

Well done to all 17 children who represented our school so positively in our two teams – Team Yorker and Team Googly! Their teamwork and sportsmanship were evident throughout the day.

Following the completion of all fixtures, the results were as follows from the eight teams involved:

Broxbourne Team Yorker 3rd
Broxbourne Team Googly 2
nd - runner-up in the final.
Congratulations to Wormley for defending their title once more.

Thank you to Mrs Davidson for accompanying the teams and facilitating this experience. We are also very grateful to Broxbourne Cricket Club for once again hosting the tournament and providing such a valuable opportunity for local schools to enjoy and develop their cricketing skills.

A Team Girls Football Tournament - May 2026

Well done to our Year 5 and Year 6 girls for representing our school so brilliantly at the District Football Competition this week. The girls played with tremendous team spirit, determination, and resilience throughout, supported by some excellent goalkeeping. They drew a number of games and, although they were unfortunately unable to progress to the latter stages of the competition, they secured a well-earned victory in one of their matches and finished in seventh place overall. The girls should be immensely proud of the way they represented our school, showing great character, encouragement for one another, and sporting spirit.

B Team Girls Football Tournament - May 2026

Earlier this week, our Year 5 and 6 B team girl footballers took to the pitch. The girls played with great spirit and enthusiasm, and the team improved as the tournament progressed. Although we did not manage to score on this occasion, some excellent goalkeeping from Annabelle prevented several goals, while Darcey and Elisa showed tremendous determination in defence. Well done to all of the girls who represented the school. For some, this was their first experience of competitive football, and it was wonderful to see confidence growing throughout the afternoon. The support and camaraderie shown within the team were equally pleasing to see. Well done, girls.

Y3 & Y4 Inter Primary Netball & Football - May 2026

Well done to our Year 3 and Year 4 football and netball teams, who represented the school superbly on Friday on both the court and the astroturf. All four teams gave an excellent account of themselves, demonstrating great determination, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout.  A special thank you to Miss Hawthorne, Mrs Davidson, Mrs Pedlar and Mr Wilson for accompanying the teams and making these valuable opportunities possible.  We are delighted to share that our A football team won the tournament, bringing home gold medals, while our B team finished in a commendable 7th place. Both of our netball teams also performed brilliantly. Very well done to all involved!

Away Football Match at Wormley Primary School - April 2026

On Thursday, our football squad took part in a friendly fixture against Wormley, playing three matches in a mini-tournament. We are very proud of all the children who represented the school—their sportsmanship, teamwork, and enjoyment were clear to see. It was also lovely to welcome parents along to support, making the occasion even more special.

HDSSA Football Tournament - March 2026

Following last week’s indoor athletics achievements, I am delighted to share that our Year 5 and Year 6 football A Team are this year’s District Football Champions. This is a remarkable accomplishment and something that we cannot remember happening in recent years. In fact, it has been at least eight years since the school last achieved this title.

The tournament itself was dramatic. Our team progressed through the semi-final after sudden death penalties and then secured victory in the final with another penalty shootout, just edging past Sheredes on this occasion. Congratulations to every player who represented the school so brilliantly. It is a wonderful testament to the way sport is valued and prioritised within our school community.

Sportshall Athletics - March 2026

Our Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 athletics teams represented the school brilliantly at Friday’s indoor athletics event at Woodson Park. The Year 3 and 4 team achieved a fantastic third place out of the eight schools involved. Our Year 5 and 6 team, by all accounts, were outstanding and went on to win the overall event. This is a tremendous achievement, particularly when competing against some considerably larger schools. I would like to congratulate all of our athletes from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for representing the school with such enthusiasm, determination and pride.

A very special mention must go to Leo in Year 4. During his race, another athlete from another school fell over. Leo immediately went over to check that the runner was alright and not hurt before continuing with his race. This was a wonderful example of kindness, compassion and sportsmanship. Very well done, Leo. You showed the true spirit of our school.

Inter Primary Cup - January 2026

Congratulations to our netball and football teams who represented the school brilliantly at the Inter Primary Cup today. The children showed fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition, and we are very proud of their efforts. Well done to everyone involved!

Together in Sport Festival – November 2025

Eight Year 4s were chosen to attend this fun event. The children were teamed up with other schools to compete against each other. The games included balloon volleyball, find the beanbag, farmer and chicken, team races and the friendship game. Our favourites were balloon volleyball and farmer and chicken.  We all made new friends! We had a fantastic morning and all earned a certificate.

Cross-Country - November 2025

A huge well done to all of our runners who represented our school at Friday’s cross-country event. The course at The Broxbourne School was demanding, but our children faced the challenge with determination,  perseverance, and excellent school spirit. Special thanks to Mrs Davidson and Miss Hawthorne  for accompanying the team on the day, and to Miss Hawthorne for dedicating her lunch times to train our runners so well. Thank you also to Mr Clift, Headteacher at The Broxbourne School, and Mrs Balsdon, Head of Physical Education at The Broxbourne School, for facilitating this opportunity for our children and the ten schools across our consortia.

Girls & Boys House Football Tournaments- Sept-Nov 2025

Congratulations to all players who represented their houses with pride and enthusiasm in the recent football matches. Every child demonstrated teamwork, skill, and good sportsmanship.  Each match was fiercely contested, with players giving their all to earn valuable points for their Houses.   Congratulations to all who took part—and especially to Green Hedgehogs for their well-deserved victory!

Frisbee Fun - July 2025

A huge well done to our two fantastic teams who took part in the recent Frisbee Festival! Our Broxbourne 1 team put in a brilliant performance, finishing 3rd overall and proudly bringing home bronze medals. Broxbourne 2 also shone on the day, securing a strong 6th place finish.

Both teams showed excellent teamwork, effort and spirit throughout the tournament, and we’re incredibly proud to say they each received a sportsmanship baton for their positive attitude and fair play. Well done to all
involved!

Inter Primary Netball Tournament - June 2025

Netball Success!

On Tuesday 17th June, our fantastic Year 5/6 Netball A and B teams took part in an exciting tournament at John Warner School. Both teams showed brilliant teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout every match – and it was wonderful to see them cheering each other on from the sidelines!

We’re so proud to share that the A team finished in 5th place, and the B team achieved an amazing 3rd place – what a brilliant result!

Well done to all the girls – you represented our school beautifully, and we are very proud of you!

Year 5 & Year 6 Cricket Festival - June 2025

We are proud to report that both of our Year 5 and 6 cricket teams performed brilliantly at the District Cricket Festival held at Broxbourne Cricket Club on Friday 6th June.

Our B Team showed determination and skill, reaching the final of the Cup competition, narrowly missing out on the win to Wormley.  Meanwhile, our A Team competed in the Plate competition, making it all the way to the final – and winning it!

Throughout the day, the team spirit, sportsmanship, and enthusiasm shown by all players were a joy to behold. Well done to all who represented our school so well.

Girls Football Tournament - May 2025

Our girls' football team competed in a local tournament, and while we didn’t come home with the trophy this time, the real victory was in the growth, determination, and spirit shown by every player on the pitch.  Throughout the competition, the team displayed impressive teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship, making each match an exciting and hard-fought battle.

A special mention to our fantastic goalkeepers Evalyn and Eva and our penalty scorer Lara!
